Razom has partnered with MathOlymp to support young students from Ukraine in attending the yearly International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and other competitions. The IMO is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students and is held annually in a different country. The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania, with 7 countries participating. It has gradually expanded to over 100 countries from 5 continents.
Thanks to the hard work of volunteers in Ukraine, over the past years, many mathematical tournaments and olympiads have been held for high school students. Each year, we team up to raise funds to cover participation and travel cost for official observers at the events. The observers are key to the team’s success. They translate the problems for the competitors to solve, speak on behalf of the competitors with judges, and make sure the participants are comfortable in the new environment.
While the Ukraninian government provides basic funding for the team’s attendance, we aim to raise $20,000 each year to support the preparation and participation of young and bright Ukrainian students in International Mathematical Olympiad.
Ukrainian mathletes have shown impressive results and had a great time showcasing Ukrainian smarts at olympiads in Hong Kong, Rio De Janerio, and Romania. Help them in their next international endeavor, make a contribution today.
