About this event
Join us for a screening of Match in a Haystack, a powerful documentary that follows a group of Ukrainian dancers in Kyiv as they prepare for a performance against the backdrop of the Russian invasion. Directed by five-time Emmy Award–winning filmmaker Joe Hill and edited by Emmy Award–winner Arielle Sherman, the film captures resilience, culture, and identity through art.
Following the screening, a 30-minute panel discussion will explore the fight for Ukrainian culture and Russia’s attempts to erase Ukraine’s unique identity. Panelists include Arielle Sherman, Emmy Award–winning film editor; Natalie Keyser, photographer with The New York Times; and Nina Murray, poet and award-winning translator of Ukrainian literature, Razom Connect. The conversation will be moderated by Caitlin Doornbos, Washington correspondent at the New York Post.
