Razom Cinema and Adrenaline Films invite you to a special screening of The Sky Was on Fire: Ballet and War in Ukraine — a documentary offering rare, intimate access to dancers who continue to create in the midst of war. The film explores how Ukrainian ballet, long overshadowed by Russian cultural dominance, is now being redefined by a new generation under fire.

For over a century, ballet was used by Russian regimes as a tool of soft power and propaganda. Today, in Ukraine, it has become a form of resistance. As missiles fall and theaters fall silent, dancers are not just surviving, they are actively preserving the soul of their culture.

This event creates space to engage with the film’s creators and reflect on the questions it raises: How do dancers choose between staying under rocket fire or starting anew abroad? What happens to the future of Ukrainian ballet when its artists are scattered across the globe? And how will the next generation reshape the art form to break free from Russian influence?

Join us in Philadelphia for an evening of cultural exchange and meaningful dialogue.Meet the Razom team, learn about our cultural programming, and explore how art continues to unite, inspire, and resist.

Presented by Razom Cinema and Adrenaline Films, the screening will be followed by a special Q&A — an opportunity to reflect together on the role of culture in times of war and the enduring power of artistic identity.

Stay for the Q&A discussion after the screening!
