Pirogov First Volunteer Mobile Hospital x RAZOM

Pirogov First Volunteer Mobile Hospital (PFVMH) is a non-governmental organization of civilian healthcare professionals saving lives by treating and evacuating injured Ukrainian people on the frontline of the war in Ukraine.

Both Razom and PFVMH were born out of the Revolution of Dignity in late 2013-beginning of 2014. When then pro-russian government dared to use force − beating and shooting peaceful protestors in the heart of Kyiv − doctors, medical professionals and volunteers responded. They set up improvised medical brigades and later formed underground hospitals to help the victims. In December 2014, PFVMH started helping Ukrainian defenders to repel the occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Since February 24th

From day one of the full-scale war, PFVMH volunteers have been first on the scene in combat zones across the country, risking their lives to treat injured civilians and combatants, and carrying out evacuations. PFVMH team is unique in that they operate on the wounded, sew them and evacuate to the hospitals from the most dangerous zones. Sometimes experienced doctors face such severe injuries for the first time. But they do their best to save lives of their patients.

“Recently our volunteer medics evacuated wounded child from Bakhmut to Dnipro. A bit later a doctor from the famous Mechnikov hospital in Dnipro informed our medics that according to the medical indicators the child should not have survived, but he did. ‘You made the impossible possible, added the doctor’” recalls Gennadiy Druzenko, co-founder and President of PFVMH.

Mission

PFVMH has three evacuation and stabilization points, two in Donbas and one in Kharkiv region, two warehouses and a recent addition: a state-of-the-art mobile hospital donated by the Danish government. PFVMH is thankful to have Angels in Scrubs coming from all over the world. Austria, Canada, Corsica, England, France, Germany, the US.

Moreover, PFVMH is not only about saving lives during the war. It is an offspring of new free and democratic Ukraine. Because life always triumphs over death. So will a democratic Ukraine triumph over the russian hatred.

UPDATES

On September 13, Razom’s volunteers were caught in an airstrike while delivering humanitarian aid to Yampil Hospital in the Sumy region. Two bombs exploded just 100 meters from the hospital. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but shrapnel damaged vehicles and aid supplies. After the attack, the hospital treated injured civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, under extreme conditions.
