Razom Advocacy, a Razom program, is dedicated to advancing U.S. legislation and policy for Ukrainian victory and to nurturing community engagement across the United States.
Internship Opportunity
Razom Advocacy is seeking interns to help conduct original research and support the work of Razom Advocacy on Capitol Hill and with the Executive Branch of government. Ideal candidates are undergraduate and graduate-level students, as well as recent university graduates. Interns are paid $18/hour and can be full-time or part-time. Current U.S. Work Authorization is required.
Interns will be accepted on a rolling basis as long as spaces are available. The duration of the internship can be adjusted to accommodate academic calendars. Mentorship is highly valued, and interns are exposed to different Razom initiatives over the course of their time with us. Advocacy interns will work with Razom Advocacy in Washington, DC. There are two teams interns can be placed with: the Government Affairs and Public Engagement teams.
Internship with Government Affairs team
The Government Affairs team works within Congress and the Executive Branch to advance policy to strengthen Ukraine, ensure its victory, and bring pro-Ukraine voices to the forefront of the policy discussion. Interns with this team will be based in Washington, DC, working from our office and from Capitol Hill. Intern responsibilities will include:
• Conducting original research related to US policy and legislation on Ukraine
• Participating in hands-on training advocating before federal officials
• Contributing to drafts of rigorous and credible research materials
• Attending and tracking relevant legislative sessions, hearings, and committee markups
• Monitoring press and Capitol Hill publications for a variety of relevant topics
• Researching and reviewing legislative bills and assisting with government advocacy projects, including tracking the movement and status of federal legislation
• Maintaining and updating legislative tracking systems, internal databases, and records (including note-taking for meetings and events)
• Developing memorandums summarizing legislation and policy proposals
• Assisting with event organization and task management
Internship with Public Engagement team
We engage and activate constituents and grassroots organizations across America to support Ukraine. Through social media and the press, we mobilize support for pro-Ukraine policy while amplifying the work of experts, supporters, and changemakers. We work closely with our Government Affairs team to align constituent engagement with clear policy priorities, bridging grassroots advocacy with legislative action and turning public support into tangible outcomes.
Interns with this team will be based in Washington, DC, working from our office. Intern responsibilities will include:
• Conducting research on target districts, stakeholders, and community organizations to inform outreach strategies
• Building and maintaining outreach lists (grassroots groups, coalition partners, local leaders, etc.) and action alerts
• Maintaining pre-existing calls to action and advocacy campaigns
• Assisting with drafting the weekly advocacy newsletter and supporting planning and coordination of biweekly advocacy calls
• Carrying out initial outreach to various community or constituent groups for targeted advocacy campaigns
• Providing social media assistance around content development, posting, and moderation
• Developing written calls to action, one-pagers, and other materials for advocacy initiatives
• Assisting with event organization, delegations, and overall task management
• Supporting coalition coordination by preparing materials for partner calls and tracking shared initiatives
The ideal candidate will:
• Have a strong interest in policy work to support a Ukrainian victory
• Be interested in legislation and the U.S. political process
• Work well independently and collaboratively, and be able to meet deadlines
• Be able to pass a background check
• Be able to work primarily from the Razom DC office or Capitol Hill
• Desired qualifications include familiarity with Ukraine, knowledge of the Ukrainian language, and experience with federal- or state-level advocacy, grassroots organizing, or coalition-building.
