Meet Oleg Sentsov in NYC

On Saturday, January 25th, at 3:00 pm EST filmmaker and former Kremlin political prisoner Oleg Sentsov will meet with the Ukrainian community in New York City. All Razom community is heartily invited!

Venue: Ukrainian National Home, 140 2nd Ave, New York, New York.

Oleg Sentsov is a Ukrainian film director, producer, screenwriter, writer, an activist from Crimea. As Russia invaded Crimea in 2014, Sentsov became an outspoken critic of Putin’s disregard for the sovereignty of Ukraine and delivered food to Ukrainian soldiers blockaded in bases by the Russian military.

In May 2014, Russian intelligence services illegally detained Sentsov, and the court sentenced him to 20 years of severe imprisonment on fraudulent charges.

After more than five years of political imprisonment, Oleg Sentsov returned to Ukraine in September 2019 as part of a large prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia. Since the beginning of Sentsov’s unlawful imprisonment, the Ukrainian community in the United States has been actively involved in the worldwide #SaveOlegSentsov campaign to release Sentsov from Russian prison.

Razom volunteer Maria Genkin will be moderating the conversation with Oleg Sentsov. Razom for Ukraine is the event organizer in New York City. This meeting is being held thanks to the support of PEN America.
