The latest news from our Toy Drive

After all the holiday celebrations in the New 2019, we would like to share with you the main results of our joint New Year’s efforts of the Toy Drive project: St. Mykolai’s gifts, warm jackets and boots, and half a ton of donations that will make Ukrainian kids happy in 2019.

Thanks to many of you, our distinguished donors, who signed up to support the project with a monthly recurring $5 donation, we were able to buy gifts for Ukrainian children in November, and our partners in Ukraine, Assistance to Children of War, helped us deliver presents from St. Mykolai to 80 kids in 18 different Ukrainian regions – from Ivano-Frankivska to Donetska oblast, from Kyivska to Odeska oblast.

Moreover, thanks to your generous donations throughout the year, we were able to purchase a number of winter boots and jackets that are already in Ukraine keeping our little Ukrainians warm and cozy in winter. In total, 20 jackets and 14 pairs of winter boots were purchased and delivered to Ukraine.

The traditional pre-Christmas Toy Drive collections at the Schools of Ukrainian Studies in Manhattan and Brooklyn were also a big success. Thanks to you we have collected a large number of donated goods – about 500 kg of toys, stationery, gadgets that have formed a base of gifts that will make our wards  happy being presents for holidays and birthdays during the upcoming months. Especially moving were the letters written by the kids from New York to their peers in Ukraine with festive wishes and offers of friendship. Such postcards and letters make holiday gifts even more special and very personal. We do hope this kind of communication can turn into true friendships that will go on despite distance or borders.

We thank you kindly for your generosity and kindness, together we make the world a brighter and happier place.
